Louthan's Late Goal Lifts No. 7 DBU Past No. 24 UCCS, 2-1

THE RUNDOWN
In a clash between two nationally ranked programs from the South Central Region, No. 7 DBU outlasted No. 24 UC Colorado Springs in a thrilling 2-1 victory Wednesday night at Patriot Soccer Field.

With the score tied late, Anne Louthan delivered the decisive blow in the 86th minute, burying the game-winner against her former team to keep DBU unbeaten on the season.

The Patriots wasted no time striking first, finding the back of the net just 92 seconds into the match. Off a transition attack, Riley Olsen uncorked a right-footed shot from the top of the box, sneaking it past UCCS goalkeeper Nylah Mirshafiel and into the lower-right corner.

The Mountain Lions answered in the 18th minute when Emily Aguilar unleashed a long-range effort from nearly 30 yards out, leveling the score at one apiece.
DBU controlled much of the first half, outshooting UCCS 8–2, and continued to press forward after the break. On the defensive end, redshirt freshman Leslie Miller came up clutch, making two critical saves in the second half to keep the Patriots even.

The breakthrough came in the closing minutes when Angelina Olmos threaded a perfectly placed through ball, springing Louthan into space. One-on-one with Mirshafiel, Louthan slipped her shot into the net for her third career game-winner as a Patriot.

UCCS threatened once more in the waning moments, but the Patriots' back line of Parker Coe, Kenzi Tufts, and Lauren Walker stood tall, repelling the final push to secure the victory.
