THE RUNDOWN
The Lady Patriots (6-1) took down the St. Mary's Rattlers (3-7) in straight sets Friday night in their first game of the LSC Crossover. While sets two and three were rather one-sided, the opener lasted the longest of any set that DBU has played in the young season (32-30, 25-19, 25-17).
Karly Wells finished with a game-high 16 kills, eight of which came in the first set. Wells also recorded 17 digs, which gave Wells her third double-double of the season, all of which came in the last four games.
Kalin Hubbard and
Lauren Witte combined for 17 kills, and
Ella Swinn dipped into the kill column for the first time in her career. Swinn finished with six tallies and two blocks to her name.
Aizlyn Dewberry led the defensive net-front with a whopping nine total blocks.
Paityn Winters logged her team-leading fifth double-double of the year, dishing out 19 assists and digging 12 swings.
Madisyn Jones led the team with 20 assists, and
Blue Anderson led everyone on the floor with 20 digs.
THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- DBU finished tonight with a .250 hitting percentage, which is the most efficient game the team has had offensively since opening night (.380, Southwest Baptist).
- The Lady Patriots held St. Mary's to a -0.025 hitting percentage in the second set.
- Four different Lady Patriots recorded multiple service aces.
Carmen Harless led the way with three.

DBU will play Texas Woman's (6-4) tomorrow at 2 pm to conclude the LSC Crossover. Next weekend, the Lady Patriots will open their conference schedule by heading right back to Kitty Magee Arena to do battle with Texas Woman's in an official LSC matchup.
