The Dallas Baptist University Lady Patriot Soccer Team defeated the Dustdevils from Texas A&M International in Laredo, Texas, on Saturday afternoon to grab their first conference win. With the win, DBU moves their overall season record to 3-8, and are 1-2 in Heartland Conference play.
Junior
Brittany Layne scored her third goal of the season in the 30th minute of the first half, giving the Lady Patriots a 1-0 lead.
The Dustdevils came out of halftime on the attack and scored a quick equalizing goal on a penalty kick in the 46th minute after a DBU foul in the 18-yard box. TAMIU took the lead in the 54th minute as Ashley Wall placed a header in the back of the net for a goal, 2-1.
Layne for the Lady Patriots scored her second goal of the game, fourth of the season, as she powered a shot past the TAMIU goalkeeper to tie the game 2-2 in the 65th minute.

Chelsea Smith was able to slip through the defense to score the game winning goal for the Lady Patriots in the 88th minute as she ran down a well placed through ball played by Junior
Kourtney Edwards and connected on a low driven shot. With the 3-2 win the Lady Patriots improve to 3-8 for the season and 1-2 in conference play.
The Lady Patriots are back in action on Tuesday, October 12 as they host the University of Texas- Permian Basin Lady Falcons on Patriots Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
