Following a fifth place finish at the NCCAA National Tournament less than two weeks ago, the Dallas Baptist Lady Patriot Soccer Team placed two players on the NCCAA/NSCAA Division I All-American Team and also earned the NISOA Team Sportsmanship Award.
DBU received the team award for representing outstanding sportsmanship throughout the season as well as the NCCAA Regional and National Tournaments. The award was voted on by the NISOA referees at the National Championships, held in Kissimmee, Florida.
Junior
Brittany Layne was chosen as a NCCAA Second Team All-American as well as being selected to the All-Tournament Team for her performance in the Lady Patriot's final three games of the season. Layne scored 2 goals and picked up one assist in DBU's 4-1 win over Roberts Wesleyan. She ends the 2010 season with 11 goals and three assists.
Allyson Bales was also selected as a NCCAA Honorable Mention All-American after scoring one goal and picking up one assist in each of the final two games against Roberts Wesleyan and King College. Bales ends the season tied with Layne for goals scored (11) to go along with a team-high, eight assists.
