The Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball Team split Saturday afternoon's doubleheader against the University of Memphis at Patriot Field. After falling 9-8 in the first game, the Patriots scored eight runs in the final three innings, including a walk-off single by Freshman
Austin Elkins in the tenth, to win game two, 10-9. The Patriots move to 9-6 on the season.
Sophomore
Ryan Behmanesh picked up his first loss of the season in Saturday's first game after pitching two and two-thirds innings, giving up one run on two hits.
Junior
Jared Stafford pitched two innings in the second game, and picked up his first win of the season, after pitching two scoreless innings.
In the first game of the afternoon, the Tigers scored one run in the top of the second on a RBI single by Robby Graham, scoring Phillip Chapman who reached on a walk.
Elkins evened the score at one in the bottom of the second, with his second homerun of the year, a solo shot over the right field wall. After Seniors

Ryan Enos each singled later in the inning, Junior
Jason Krizan connected on a RBI single, scoring Knight, to make it a 2-1 lead for the Patriots.
Memphis tacked on two runs in the second, but the Patriots answered with two runs of their own, off back-to-back homeruns by Freshman
Duncan McAlpine and Senior
Travis Meiners, to take a 4-3 lead after three.
The Tigers added three runs in the fourth, chasing starting pitcher, Freshman
Will Lane from the game, and two more in the seventh, to take an 8-4 lead.
The Patriots rallied in the bottom of the eighth. McAlpine led off with a double, and later scored on Junior
Ryan Thompson's RBI single to center field. Meiners reached on a Tiger error, followed by
Josh Wilson's walk, bringing Enos to the plate with two outs. Enos delivered with a double to right field, bringing Thompson and Meiners across the plate to tie the game, 8-8.
The Tigers responded with one run in the ninth on a RBI double off the bat of Chapman, scoring Jacob Wilson and sealing the 9-8 victory.
In game two, the Tigers were first on the board again, scoring four runs on five hits in the top of the second.
The Patriots added a run of their own later in the inning, making it a 4-1 game. Elkins' RBI double to left field brought Meiners across the plate, who had reached on a single.
After a scoreless third, the Tigers tacked on three runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to make take an 8-1 lead. Krizan singled up the middle in the bottom of the fifth for the Patriots, scoring
Logan Moro who had reached on a single of his own, to make it an 8-2 game.
The Tigers increased their lead to seven runs in the eighth, but the Patriots rallied in the bottom of the inning. Meiners reached on a single and then scored on a triple by Elkins. McAlpine came in as the pinch hitter, and hit his sixth homerun of the season to make it an 8-5 game. Enos made it back-to-back homeruns with his solo shot to right field on the very next pitch, pulling the Patriots to within three, 9-6.
The Patriots continued their rally in the ninth, when Enos hit his second homerun of the day, a three-run shot to send the game to extra innings.
After holding the Tigers scoreless in the top of the tenth, the Patriots continued their unbelievable comeback when Behmanesh walked and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Thompson. Elkins stepped up to the plate and brought home the game-winning run with his walk-off, RBI single to left center, to score Behmanesh.
The Patriots return to action at Patriot Field this Tuesday, March 16, when they take on Washington State University at 6:30 p.m.
