The Dallas Baptist University Patriot Baseball Team fell to the Texas A&M Aggies by the score of 10-6 on Thursday night at Olsen Field in College Station, Texas. With the loss, the Patriots move to 24-21 on the season.
Freshman
Will Lane was stuck with the loss dropping his record to 3-4 on the year as he threw five innings giving up seven runs on 11 hits while striking out four. Junior Barret Loux picked up the win for the Aggies, his eighth on the year.
The Aggies struck early as they jumped out to a seven run lead through four innings before DBU was able to get on the board. The Patriots scratched two runs across in the top of the fifth inning when Senior
Travis Meiners belted a solo homerun to lead off the inning before Junior
Chris Haney scored on a sacrifice fly by Senior
Ryan Enos. Haney reached on a single through the left side of the infield.
Sophomore
Ryan Behmanesh walked to lead off the sixth inning to set up Meiners for his second homerun on the night, seventh on the year, to leave the score 4-7.
The Aggies answered in the bottom of the sixth with two runs of their own off as they chased Lane from the game, leaving the score, 9-4.
After each team added a run in the seventh, Junior
Jason Krizan hit a solo homerun over the left field wall in the top of the ninth before two Patriot groundouts ended the game with the Aggies grabbing the first game of the weekend series, 10-6.
Krizan was a perfect 3 for 3 on the night for the Patriots as he was only a double short of hitting for the cycle. He reached base five times on the night as he added two walks to his impressive offensive performance.
Senior
Travis Meiners went 2 for 4 on the night with two homeruns as he drove in three runs for the Patriots.
The Patriots are set to face the Aggies once again in College Station, Texas, on Friday evening for the second game of the series with the first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m. at Olsen Field.
