Lady Patriot Soccer Drops Home Opener

The Dallas Baptist University Lady Patriot Soccer Team opened their season Thursday night with a 4-2 loss to the visiting Jennies from Central Missouri.

The Jennies took an early 1-0 lead only nine minutes into the first half when Becky Lackey's header found the back of the net. Kayla Shain picked up her first assist of the 2010 season on the corner kick.

At the 30 minute mark, Central Missouri made it a 2-0 game when Carley Stanley scored a goal less than two minutes after checking into the game. The first half ended with the Lady Patriots trailing 2-0.

Early in the second half, Dallas Baptist finally got on the board when Junior Ally Bales weaved her way through the Jenny defense, and blasted her first goal of the season.

Cara Hennahane gave the Jennies a 3-1 lead when she scored in the 68th minute on the assist from Stanley. Five minutes later, Central Missouri struck again when Hennahane scored her second goal of the night. Alex Hess picked up the assist as the Jennies took a 4-1 lead.

Last year's Heartland Conference leading scorer, Brittany Layne, scored the final goal of the night for the Lady Patriots at the 84 minute mark, as DBU suffered the 4-2 loss.

The Lady Patriots are back in action on Saturday, September 24, as they travel to Tyler, Texas, to take on the University of the Texas at Tyler. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
