Box Score

The Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball cruised past Mississippi Valley State on Thursday evening at Patriot Field, defeating the Delta Devils, 7-1. With the win, the Patriots improve to 27-13 on the season.

Senior Jared Stafford earned his fourth win of the season for DBU after eight solid innings of action. The right hander allowed only three hits with six strikeouts while on the mound.

The Patriots took an early lead in the bottom of the first after pushing two runs across the plate. Junior Landon Anderson led off the inning with a bunt followed by a walk from Senior Tyler Robbins. After a single by Senior Jason Krizan advanced both runners, Junior Ryan Behmanesh scored the first run of the night with his RBI groundout. A single by Junior Joel Hutter then scored the next Patriot run, giving DBU the 2-0 advantage.

Behmanesh posted the third Patriot run on the board in the bottom half of the third after his RBI single scored Robbins who had reached on a leadoff double.

In the fourth inning, Anderson gave DBU a 4-0 advantage with his RBI single up the middle. Sophomore Duncan McAlpine, who had reached on a bunt earlier in the inning, scored on the play.

The Patriots put the game away in the seventh, scoring three more runs to take a 7-0 lead. Krizan led off the inning with his nation-leading, 27th double of the season, and later scored on Behmanesh's second RBI single of the night. Junior Kenny Hatcher pushed Behmanesh across the plate with his RBI single to right field, making it a 6-0 lead. The Patriots scored their final run of the night courtesy of Senior Josh Wilson's RBI single to right field that scored Hatcher.

The Delta Devils were able to score one run in the ninth, but McAlpine wrapped up the 7-1 win after forcing a pair of MVSU pop-ups to end the game.

The Patriots will continue their four-game series against Mississippi Valley State with a double header tomorrow afternoon. The first pitch for game one is slated for 3:00 p.m.
