Lady Patriots Swept By Slimmest of Margins

The Lady Patriot Volleyball Team traveled to Austin and returned home without winning a set against St. Edward's Tuesday night - but they could not have been any closer to victory without actually pulling out a win.

"We battled," said Head Coach Cathy Ray. "Each game was close. Each game had its moments but we just did not do enough to pull out a win."

With no player recording double-digit kills in the match, the Lady Patriots had to rely heavily on their defense to keep them in games. They came up with 80 digs as a club led by Cameron Hartson with 28 and Kaylyn Frink with 17. In the end, though, it was not enough as they dropped the three sets, 25-23, 25-22, and 25-23.

With the loss, the Lady Patriots drop to 2-3 in conference and 7-6 overall. With the win, St. Edward's remains undefeated in conference at 5-0 and climb to 8-5 overall.

DBU Volleyball travels to Topeka, Kansas this weekend to participate in the Lady Blues Fall Classic at Washburn University. There they will face off against Southwest Baptist, Washburn, Nebraska-Omaha, and Emporia State.
