A second half goal by
Danielle Presley pushed the DBU Women's Soccer Team to a 1-0 win at Newman University, Saturday, the Patriots' fourth consecutive shutout (8-2-0). The Heartland win moves DBU to 2-1-0 in conference play.
Presley's eighth goal of the season came in the 57
th minute, as the junior finished a crossing pass from freshman
Dixie Kurrus.
“We had some trouble putting the ball in the back of the net today,” said Patriot Head Coach
Michelle Lenard. “But sometimes you just have to grind some out.”
Despite the tight score, DBU dominated the control of the ball by outshooting the home club, 21-2. 10 Patriot shots were on goal, while the backline was solid, not allowing a shot on goal.
Kerry Edwards moves to 8-2-0 with the shutout. Kayleigh Renfro falls to 1-2-0 after registering nine saves in the loss for the Jets (3-5-0).
The Patriots return home for a matchup with third-ranked St. Edwards University, Monday at 4 p.m. “It is good to come home from a road trip with two wins,” added Lenard. “We are looking forward to coming home and playing on Monday.”
