The DBU Lady Patriot Volleyball Team extended their Heartland Conference win streak to five, Thursday, earning a sweep at Oklahoma Panhandle State University, 3-0. The DBU ladies now stand at 9-11 overall, 7-3 in league play.

Things started quickly for Dallas Baptist, as they jumped out to a 7-0 lead on their way to a 25-17 first set win. The second set was much of the same, as DBU controlled most of the way, taking a 2-0 match lead with a 25-16 win.

The third set started tight, before a 7-1 Lady Patriot run put them ahead for good, cruising to another 25-16 win and a 3-0 match victory. The Lady Patriots complete the season sweep of the Aggies, having won 3-1, Sept. 14 in Dallas.

The Lady Patriots had a balanced offensive attack, led by a match-high 10 kills from
Erika Papadeas.
Tadam Mergener was close behind with eight kills, followed by six from
Tiara Iwegbu. All totaled, nine different players tallied kills, with
Kaycie Bird and
Tyler Bradsher passing off 13 and 12 assists, respectively.

Cameron Hartson once again anchored the Lady Patriot defense with 14 digs, tops for either club. Bradsher and Papadeas each added seven digs, with Iwegbu pitching in two blocks.

"We were able to have several players get in the match tonight," said Head Coach
Cathy Kokel. "All in all, we saw a lot of good things from a lot of different people."

For OPSU (3-17, 0-10), Makayla Barrett had nine kills, with 17 assists coming from Skylar Mayeux. Kayla Schwartz had a club-high seven digs, with Sarah Koster earning six total blocks.

Thursday's match was the first of a three-game road trip, continuing Saturday at noon at Newman University. The Lady Patriots then travel to Wichita Falls to take on Midwestern State in non-conference play, Tuesday at 7 p.m.
