Box Score

A season-high in goals led by senior Danielle Presley's hat trick, as part of a six point second half lifted Dallas Baptist's Women's Soccer Team to an 8-1 win over McMurry in the Heartland Conference Opener Saturday. DBU (4-3-1, 1-0) moves back above .500 and has claimed ten straight conference wins dating back to last season. McMurry (3-4, 0-1) continues searching for its first home win this season.

Sophomore Rebecca Kernen got the scoring started at the 20:36 minute mark with a line drive from 30 yards away from the net for her first goal this season. Fellow sophomore, Ashley Cox concluded the scoring in the half with a one-on-one matchup beating goalkeeper, Chanel Felder, at the 44:09 mark. The forward's third goal gave DBU a narrow 2-0 halftime lead.

The night belonged to Presley however, and the native of Flower Mound, Texas helped swing the momentum early in the second half. The forward placed back-to-back scores in the 57th and 62nd minutes. After sophomore Jolee Patterson notched her first career goal at the 64:09 minute, Presley completed the team's first season hat trick off a 25 yard penalty kick at the 65:02 mark.

Sophomore Lindsey Eccles joined in the offensive attack less than a minute later to bring her season total even with Presley for a team lead four goals. Sophomore Dayna Debacker completed the scoring for the Patriots with her first goal of the year in the 85th minute.

DBU took a season-high 24 shot attempts along with another season best 16 counting for shots on goal. Eccles led the barrage of shots with six, followed by A. Cox at five.

Presley was perfect with four shots on goal, which tied with Cox for a game best. Patterson was the other multi-shot player on the night also attempting four.

Five assists occurred throughout the night, with junior Courtney Baxter leading the team with two. Sophomore Emilie MacDonald, A. Cox, and Eccles also added one in the route.

Junior Kerry Edwards (4-3-1, 1-0) allowed a single goal and picked up two saves in 90 minutes in the net for the win.

Felder (2-1) and Anissa Arenas split 45 minutes in the goalkeeper position and recorded four saves apiece. Felder was saddled with the loss allowing two goals, while Arenas surrendered six goals.

"Overall a really good game for us with six different players getting on the board with goals," Head Coach Michelle Lenard stated. "Dani Presley had a nice game for us picking up a hat trick."

The sixth year coach added, "Hopefully we can keep the momentum rolling for Monday's contest."

Dallas Baptist sets to rematch against St. Edward's University on Monday at 2:30 pm. DBU dropped the previous meeting 2-0 at Patriots Soccer Field a week ago.
