Women's Soccer Hosts Texas Woman's Univ. on Tuesday

DALLAS - The Dallas Baptist Women's Soccer team searches to rebound after a shutout last week at Texas A&M-Commerce 4-0. The defeat sent the Patriots (2-2-1) back to .500 and ended a two game winning streak.

On Tuesday, the Patriots host the second game of a three home stand against Texas Woman's University at 7 pm. Friday's game with Angelo State was cancelled due to poor weather conditions and will not be rescheduled. The non-conference contest was the first game of the trio home ledger.

ECCLES LEADS OFFENSE – Sophomore Lindsey Eccles has paced the Patriots offense through the first three games this season. The Denton, Texas, native's game winner on Saturday was her team leading third goal. The forward also scored the game-leading goal against Central Oklahoma, and holds three of the team's four goals. Her most recent pair of game-winning goals extends her career number to eight.

ANOTHER PLAYER OF THE WEEK – For the second consecutive week, DBU had a player receive Heartland Conference Player of the Week honors. Last week Eccles notched the accolade as Offensive Player of the Week for her hot start to the season. As mentioned above, her two game-winners were instrumental in the team's pair of wins and the sharp shooter earned the recognition.

Junior Kerry Edwards earned the Defensive Player of the Year in Week 1.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS – TWU (3-3-1) routed Northwestern Oklahoma State in its latest matchup on Sunday in Denton, Texas 6-0. Six different Pioneers found the back of the net, led by Alisa Velasquez with her third goal of the year and adding two assists. Emily Davila also tied Velasquez with her third season goal. Gabrielle Larson, Candice Davies, Brooke Hill, and Tori Crook all tabbed points from goals in the victory.

After dropping a season-high three straight games, Texas Woman's has answered with three straight unbeaten matches, including a tie between two home victories. The Pioneers are 1-3 away from TWU Soccer Field this season.

The Patriots claimed last year's meeting on the road in a 3-1 final. Eccles had a big game scoring a pair of goals. Junior Lea Sedwick also placed a goal in the net and got the scoring early to put DBU up 1-0.
