Kickoff is slated for 7:30 PM or approximately 30 minutes after the Women's Soccer match concludes.
The road woes continued to occur as the Patriots ended its second five-game stretch away from the home confines this campaign. The team went 1-8 on the road this season, and has dropped six-straight contests.
They hope to right things at home, where the Men's Soccer Team has gone 2-3-1, including a tie with No. 18 Midwestern State University.
DBU remains winless versus Heartland Conference foes, falling in all six contests. Last year, the Patriots finished 4-4-1 in league play.
LAST TIME OUTThe Patriots have been close in most matches, including the last three all being decided by a goal. The squad is 3-4 in contests settled by a goal this season, and added another setback after a 2-1 result Monday.
The Jets were able to jump out to a 2-0 edge in the first half with goals in the 11
th and 18
th minutes of the contest.
Newman did not build its double-digit season-win total so handily, as the Patriots nipped at a 2-0 deficit in the second half off junior
Brian Robertson's third netter of the campaign.
The Patriots were outshot 10-8, and Robertson placed one of the team's pair of shots on goal to complete a 100 percent shots on goal display.
Junior
Cameron Gilbert, Saturday's lone Patriot to score both goals at Rogers State, added the other shot on the target and had a multi-shot performance to go along with redshirt sophomore
Landon Lacy.
Sophomore
Mason Stringer (3-5) picked up a save and allowed both goals in his first start back in six matches. The Burleson, Texas, native goalie played 29:25 minutes relieving junior
Chuck Schober in Saturday's match at Rogers State.
IMPACT PLAYERSSophomore
Riley Alvey managed to gain a slight edge on the team leaderboard for goals and points with five and 11, respectively. Three of the forward's five goals have counted as the game-tier and eventually helped lead to a pair of DBU wins.
Lacy is up there second on the squad in goals and points with four and 10. The native of Hallsville, Texas, became the second player to notch double-digits in points after his second assist last weekend at Rogers State.
Senior
David Balyeat holds the team-high in shots with 42, and has paced DBU in six of the last 10 games with the team-high per match.
Also sitting second on the team and notching 36 shots in the season is Robertson. He took the top slot on the leaderboard with four assists and scored his third goal of the season which also ranks him third on the squad.
Monday's netter lifted the midfielder to 10 points, which is tied with Lacy for second.
Earning the majority of time lately in the goalkeeper role is Schober, taking six-straight starts, which account for nine of his this campaign. The native of McKinney, Texas, has allowed 20 goals, but other than the Ouachita Baptist affair where five got by; the keeper has given up three or less, with two or less occurring in six of them.
This includes his most impressive showing, holding No.18 Midwestern State to a netter in a 1-1 tie.
SCOUTING THE FALCONSTexas-Permian Basin has dropped 12 in a row, but has a 1-4 road record on the campaign. UTPB is coming off a 5-1 defeat versus St. Edward's University which completed an 0-4 home stand. Like DBU, the Falcons are also seeking their first win in Heartland action.
The scheduled road foe has scored 22 times, but has struggled defensively allowing 3.86 goals per game.
Pacing the squad offensively is Nathan Cotterell with double figures in goals and points. The team leader has notched 11 and 23, respectively. Also contributing three goals is Gary Willis, and Logan Sharp and BJ Rodrick have added a pair each.
Eric Beltran has suited up in all 14 matches for UTPB, and allowed 54 goals while picking up 90 saves through 1,272:16 minutes.
SERIES HISTORYIn three meetings all-time, DBU is 0-2-1 versus the Falcons of Texas-Permian Basin. The Patriots were defeated in one-goal affairs at each venue in 2012, before forcing a tie in 2013. It counted towards the squad's only tie and wrapped up the regular season.
In that road contest, the Patriots battled UTPB back-and-forth not surrendering anything until Sharp lifted his team in front on a penalty kick. The play occurred at the 72:22 minute mark.
However, graduated senior
Rodrigo Barrientos heroically tied things in the final minute at the 89:39 mark off an assist from Alvey. His netter forced overtime, and left DBU with a stalemate.
The Patriots outshot the home team 22-16, and current sophomore
Mason Stringer worked a complete 110 minute match, while nabbing six saves.
SENIOR DAYPrior to the match, the Men's Soccer Team will be recognizing five seniors that take the pitch for the last time in a DBU jersey. The list includes:
David Balyeat,
Cameron Garner,
Andrew Byrd,
Matthew Buckwalter, and
Chuck Schober. The latter trio will be graduating a year early academically.
