THE LEAD
The Dallas Baptist Volleyball team is heading into the final weekend of regular season play for 2014. The Lady Patriots are currently battling with St. Mary's and Newman University for one of the final two seeds available in the Heartland Conference Tournament. The top two seeds of the post season tournament have been clinched by the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith and St. Edwards (Second place Lubbock Christian is not yet eligible for post season play). DBU must win their final two matches against St. Mary's and Texas A&M International to advance to post season play.

RESTRICTING THE RATTLERS
The last time St. Mary's defeated Dallas Baptist it was in 2010, where the Rattlers won in the regular season and ousted the Lady Patriots in the Heartland Conference Tournament. Since 2011 the Lady Patriots have been undefeated against StMU with a set record of 21-4.

GIPSON CLOSING IN ON 400 POINTS
Senior middle blocker Tiara Gipson is ten points away from totaling 400 points for the season. Gipson currently leads the Lady Patriots in points with 390 and leads the Heartland Conference in hitting percentage per set with .323.

THE LAST TIME OUT
The last meeting between the Lady Patriots and Rattlers resulted in a 3-1 win for DBU at the Burg Center. Brooke Manley had a match high  21 kills for DBU along with Kaycie Bird dishing out a match high 55 assists.

SCOUTING THE RATTLERS
The St. Mary's Rattlers are currently in the fourth and final slot for the Heartland Conference Tournament and can punch their ticket to the post season with a win over DBU. Despite having a five match losing streak during the season, the Rattlers have won their last two matches in straight sets over third seeded Newman University and most recently Oklahoma Panhandle State. The Rattlers lead the Heartland Conference in blocks with 2.10 per set. This effort is spearheaded by junior middle blocker Lauren Holman who has a conference leading 1.07 blocks per set.

SERIES HISTORY
With a win over St. Mary's in their last meeting, Dallas Baptist extended their series record over StMU to 16-4 since first meeting in 2005.
