THE LEAD
The Dallas Baptist Men's Soccer Team continues its five-game road stretch on Monday against No. 15 Metro State University at 12 PM. It is the first time this season the Patriots (2-2) meet on the pitch versus a top 25 national ranked opponent.

In the previous campaign, DBU met No. 9 St. Edward's University on the road and fell 2-0 against the Heartland Conference foe. The Match-up with MSU will be located at a neutral site in Austin, Texas.

The Patriots only neutral field location since becoming Division II was its inaugural season in 2012 during the NCCAA Regional Tournament. They fell 2-0 versus McMurry University and are 0-1 all-time  in that category.

MOST RECENT ACTION
DBU couldn't capitalize on Saturday night and were defeated at Oklahoma Baptist University, 2-0. It was the first time the road squad had been shutout this year.

Things were scoreless throughout most of the match, until the Bison broke through with a netter in the 71st minute. Another goal at the 83:17 mark by Ruben Basturto iced the game as OBU moved to a .500 record.

Redshirt sophomore Landon Lacy and sophomore Riley Alvey led the Patriots with two shots a piece in the setback. Junior Brian Robertson and freshman Nathan McBride hit the target in their only attempts of the night.

IMPACT PLAYERS
Lacy has gotten off to a fast start, putting up a team-leading two goals and five points; while ranking top three in shots and shots on goal with eight and four, respectively. In the season-opener, the native of Hallsville, Texas, punched the game-winning goal in the final five minutes to lift DBU. In his career, the forward ranks third on the current roster with six goals.

Robertson has yet to record a goal, but did factor into a pair of goals in the team's triumph last night. He is pacing the team with 13 shots on the season, thanks to a game-high, seven attempts versus Southern Nazarene last Thursday.

In his previous campaign, the Midlothian, Texas, native boasted personal and team-highs with 24 points, seven goals, and 10 assists. His success garnered the midfielder NCCAA First Team All-Region and Second Team All-Heartland Conference honors.

Alvey ranks second on the squad with 11 shots, and has placed a team-best six total on target.

Junior Chuck Schober made his season debut the other night at Oklahoma Baptist. The native of McKinney, Texas, was effective through 90 minutes, facing 13 shots and pulling in two saves. He did get saddled with the loss after allowing two goals to the home team.

Helping form a solid goalkeeper duo is sophomore Mason Stringer. He has suited up the first three games in the net for DBU early this year. The Burleson, Texas, native has allowed six goals, totaled 12 saves on 44 shots faced. After stepping in later last season, the rookie boasts a career record of 5-3-1 with one shutout coming in his collegiate debut versus McMurry University.

SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS
It has been an excellent start to the season for No. 15 MSU (2-0) who have picked up exciting victories in the first pair of contests. On September 7, the Roadrunners won their eighth consecutive season-opener after beating Hawaii Pacific 2-1.

That affair was the first late come-from-behind victory for MSU since September 12, 2003. The team was trailing in the 87 minute and forced overtime and won in that historic match. Metro State nipped the 1-0 deficit in the opener, scoring twice in the final 15 minutes of the opener.

Both decisions have been decided by a 2-1 result, with the most recent occurring in a tough environment at St. Edward's University. With both squads earning scores in the first half, neither could find the game-deciding kick until just over two minutes into the extra frame.

Dustin Berg for the Roadrunners scored the golden goal off a penalty kick.

Josh Belfrage and Danny Arrubla lead the way with three points each and Arrubla matches Berg with a team-best six shots. Belfrage has contributed four. The trio join Jack Mayfield in collecting the four goals tallied by the Roadrunners thus far.

James Tanner has faced 29 shots through 182:25 minutes in the goalkeeper position. He has allowed only two goals and nabbed six saves.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday marks the first meeting for the programs since DBU moved to Division II in the Heartland Conference.

UP NEXT
Dallas Baptist takes its trip to Canyon, Texas, as the Patriots square off against West Texas A&M on September 18 at 7 PM. After that, the road span is concluded on September 23 at Ouachita Baptist University.
