THE LEAD
The DBU Volleyball team was able to get their first home win of the season this week after defeating the University of Texas-Permian Basin. The win also put the Lady Patriots at .500 as they improved their record to 4-4 overall, 2-2 in Heartland Conference play and has them on a three game winning streak. With an adjusted line up and surprising contributions coming from younger players DBU hopes to keep the streak rolling. On Saturday the Lady Patriots will wrap up their two game home stand versus Lubbock Christian University, before heading to Austin to take on St. Edward's University.

NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED
DBU's defensive effort currently has them ranked #16 in the NCAA Division II rankings in digs with 18.58 per set. Along with that they are also ranked #19 in Team Attacks per set nationally with 38.96.

MERGENER MAKING IMPACT
Since moving Tadam Mergener to the starting libero role the Lady Patriots have been 3-1, losing only to nationally ranked Colorado School of Mines. Mergener's defense has been outstanding amassing 112 digs the past four games.

600 ON THE HORIZON
The Lady Patriots are on a roll defensively and only need 14 more digs to be at 600 for the season.

THE LAST TIME OUT
Lubbock Christian and Dallas Baptist met up last season on October 31, at the Burg Center with the Lady Patriots winning the match 3-1. Erika Papadeas and Tadam Mergener had 11 and 10 kills, respectively in the win.

SCOUTING THE LADY CHAPS
This will be LCU's second year participating in Heartland Conference play as  they transition to NCAA Division II from the NAIA. In their first year of provisional Heartland Conference play the Lady Chaps went a respectable 17-12, but were unable to participate in post season action due to their provisional status. The provisional status so far has not slowed down LCU this season as they have a record of 6-1 overall, 4-1 in Heartland Conference play sitting in third place. Returning for the Lady Chaps are all three of their All-Heartland Conference players in seniors outside hitter Kacy Deterding and setter Erin Fisher along with junior middle blocker Amy Edwards. LCU currently leads the Heartland Conference in assists (13.9 per set), kills (14.7 per set) and opponent hitting percentage (.129).

SERIES HISTORY
As of right now the series record sits at 1-1. The series history between LCU and DBU is still very young with their first encounters being in 2013.
