THE LEAD
After dropping their last two matches of their three match home stand, the Dallas Baptist Volleyball Team looks to right the ship after being swept by the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, 3-0. The Lady Patriots will gear up for their final home match of 2015 on "Senior Day", where they will honor Tadam Mergener and Kaycie Bird and face Newman University.    
 
SENIOR SEND OFF

Tadam Mergener - Midlothian, TX 
Signing with DBU out of Midlothian High School in 2012, Tadam Mergener added an instant impact as soon as she stepped on campus for the Lady Patriots. Accolades for Mergener include Heartland Conference President's Honor Roll recognition in 2014 and multiple Heartland Conference Player of the Week honors throughout her career. Mergener was also named Most Valuable Player during DBU's championship run of the Heartland Conference Tournament in 2013 and was a key contributor on the Lady Patriots squad that made it to the NCAA Regional Tournament. Mergener leaves DBU as the active leader in kills (606), total attempts (2,130), service aces (37), digs (1,186), and points (678). 

Kaycie Bird - Red Oak, TX
After red-shirting her first year in 2011 out of Red Oak High School, Kaycie Bird has been a constant figure on the court for the Lady Patriots.Bird has been a part of much success for DBU including the NCCAA Regional Championship Team in 2011 and the Heartland Conference Tournament Championship Team that went on to qualify for the NCAA Regional Tournament in 2013. Bird has been a constant mainstay on the Heartland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll garnering the recognition every year (2012, 2013, 2014) as well as achieving Heartland Conference Player of the Week honors. Bird leaves DBU as its active leader in sets played (404), matches played (109), and assists (2,655).   
   
THE LAST TIME OUT 
The Jets defeated the Lady Patriots in four sets, 3-1. Jenna Elkins led DBU with a team high 14 kills with Kaycie Bird registering 29 assists and Brooke Manley with 13 digs. 

SCOUTING THE JETS
The Jets currently sit in second place of the Heartland Conference with their only league losses coming from top ranked, UA-Fort Smith. NU has won their last four matches with their most recent win being a sweep over St. Edward's University. Newman is led by senior middle hitter Ashley Gonzales who is ranked in the top ten nationally in various statistics such as hitting percentage, kills per set, points per set, service aces, and in the top 25 in total kills.
