The Dallas Baptist University Women's Soccer team lost to No. 24 Texas A&M-Commerce, 2-0, on Monday night at Patriot Soccer Field in Dallas, Texas. Sophie Haywood and Kasey Sorbers each recorded a goal in the match to fuel the Lions' offense.
Commerce earned a corner kick in the 14th minute, which Sophie Hayood managed to curve into the near corner of the net, past goalkeeper
Hope Koym. The Lions tacked on a second goal in the 75th minute after Vicky Back's free kick ricocheted off the crossbar in front of Kasey Sorbers, who easily put it past
Hope Koym from point-blank range.

DBU faces LCU in a crucial conference matchup between the No. 2 and 3 teams, respectively, in the standings at 2:00 p.m. on October 20 at the LCU Soccer Field in Lubbock, Texas.

 - On Tuesday,
Hope Koym was named the NSCAA Division II Women's Soccer Player of the Week, becoming the first Heartland Conference student-athlete, men's or women's, to earn the nod from the NSCAA.

SCOUTING LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN
The Chaps, who sit four points behind the Patriots in the Heartland Conference table, are returning from a four-game roadtrip in which they went 1-0-3 and played over 400 minutes of soccer. LCU's one win was a 5-0 blowout of Texas A&M International.

LCU's offense is headlined by Haley Knesek, the conference leader in points (23), goals (8) and assists (7). In her last five starts, she has scored four times and recorded four assists, picking up Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors last week. On the defensive side, goalkeeper Sarah Palmer has struggled as of late, allowing as many goals (5) in the last four matches as she had in the previous nine.

DBU is undefeated in four meetings with LCU, including a 1-0 victory in Dallas earlier this season.

Lindsey Washburn, who headed into the path of Namken for a clear header on goal. The Patriots survived the ensuing 89:16 by stingy defense and five saves by Koym.Â
