The DBU Women's Soccer team dropped the season opener to No. 23 Colorado School of Mines 5-0 on Thursday evening at Stermole Stadium in Golden, Colorado. Cari Smith and Emily Townsend each registered a goal and an assist to lead the Orediggers' attack.
Cecily Martinez carried the load for the Patriot offense with three shots and one on goal.Â
Ocoee Wilson made five saves in the first half before handing over goalkeeper duties toÂ
Hope Koym, who recorded four saves in the second half.

The Patriots finish their Colorado roadtrip against Metro State University at Noon on Saturday at The Regency Athletic Complex in Denver.

SCOUTING METRO STATE
The Roadrunners began their 2016 campaign with a 2-0 win over West Texas A&M on Thursday night. Bry Sanchez scored a goal and assisted the second goal, scored byReigna Banks, to lead Metro State to its fourth straight season-opening win over the Buffaloes. Goalkeeper Erica Torres made five saves in the opening victory to secure the shutout for the Roadrunners.

DBU is 1-1-1all-time against Metro State after defeating the Roadrunners 1-0 in extra time last September in Dallas. Â
McKenna Namken netted her second career goal with six minutes left in the second overtime period to give the Patriots the win.Â
