THE LEAD
DBU won for their fourth consecutive weekend series, as the Patriots cruised to a 13-5 win over Oral Roberts on Monday afternoon at J.L. Johnson Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A seven-run fourth inning for the Patriots blew the game open, as DBU (10-5) churned out 15 hits, including four home runs, on their way to a series win over the Golden Eagles (9-6).Â
Â
After an
Austin Listi sacrifice fly put the Patriots on top 1-0 in the top of the first,
Jameson Hannah belted his third home run of the year, a towering shot over the wall in right field, to put DBU ahead 2-0.Â
Â
Leading 2-1 in the fourth,
Camden Duzenack led the inning off with a triple to the gap in right center. One batter later,
Jordan Hand brought Duzenack in from third. With one on and nobody out,
Luke Stratman delivered a shot over the centerfield wall to extend the lead to 5-1. After
Matt Duce reached on a fielder's choice that plated a run,
Devlin Granberg smashed a two-run home run to give DBU a commanding 9-1 advantage.
Â
A solo home run by ORU's Noah Cummings and a three-run shot by Matt Whatley pulled the Golden Eagles back to within five runs in the fifth. DBU starter
Jordan Martinson was able to finish the fifth and gave way to
Travis Stone, who held the Golden Eagles scoreless for two innings.
Â
With the Patriots ahead 9-4 in the top of the seventh, DBU struck for four more runs, headlined by
Ray Gaither's first career home run, a solo blast over the wall in left center. A two-run single by
Austin Listi pushed the Patriots' lead to nine, before Oral Roberts got a run back in the eighth.
Â
Sean Boyle came out of the pen in relief of
Gavin Fritz in the ninth and struck out the side to shut the door on the Golden Eagles.

DBU HEAD COACH DAN HEEFNER ON HIS ASSESSMENT THROUGH THE TEAM'S FIRST 15 GAMES
"A 10-5 mark is a good record to have, but I don't think we've played our best baseball yet, so that's encouraging.  We're also still figuring out some roles right now and that's usually understandable at this time of year. Those things have a way of working themselves out. We just want to make sure we're putting our guys in the best position to be successful."
