2016 IN REVIEW
Last year the DBU Women's Volleyball team finished their season with an 8-20 record and going 5-9 in conference play, which allowed them to finish 6^th overall in the Heartland Conference.
 
Although they had early struggles, the Lady Patriots were able to string together a 3-game win streak late in the season only losing 2 sets in the process.
 
The 2016 season featured a lot of young talent on the roster and with last year's season under their belt this year's team is ready to come out strong and get back to their winning ways.
 
PATRIOT STORYLINES

• DBU is predicted to finish 5^th overall in the Heartland Conference this season.
• Senior, Sidnee Jo Fitzpatrick has been selected to the 2017 Preseason All-Heartland Conference Team.
• In 2016, Strealy Sizelove led the team with an impressive 690 assists as a freshman and she's ready for another successful sophomore season.
• Junior, Lauren Nicks is one of the more versatile players on the roster, as she led the 2016 team in digs with 445, but also racked up 62 kills in an outside hitter's role.
• Cathy Kokel is going into her 15^th season as the head coach of the women's volleyball team.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN ARKANSAS

• In 2016, the Southern Arkansas Lady Muleriders had a record of 9-21 with 6 of their wins appearing on their home court.
• Southern Arkansas is predicted to finish 11^th overall in the Great American Conference this season.
• So far, Southern Arkansas features a record of 1-1 as they just finished up 2 games in the Williams Baptist Tri-Match before coming to the South Central Classic.
• The Lady Muleriders dropped their first game of the year 3 sets to 0 against John Brown University, but came back to win 3 sets to 1 against Williams Baptist College.
• Freshman, Morgan Gross has made an immediate impact for Southern Arkansas, as she already has tallied 26 kills in 2 games.

SERIES HISTORY
With the Southern Arkansas Women's Volleyball team being a younger program, as they just got started in 2012, this will only be the 3^rd time DBU and Southern Arkansas have faced each other. The Lady Patriots have fared well against the Lady Muleriders, as they have won both games without even giving up a set. The last matchup between these 2 teams came in 2014, so the Lady Muleriders will come out ready to get that first win against DBU, but the Lady Patriots aren't ready to give up that first loss to them quite yet.
 
UP NEXT
The Lady Patriots have a busy weekend ahead of them in the South Central Classic. Following the game against Southern Arkansas they will come back Friday afternoon for a 5:00pm game against Ouachita Baptist, then come back Saturday, September 2^nd for another double-header against Cameron University and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
