THE RUNDOWN
No. 25 DBU earned its second three-game sweep of the season and its first since the opening weekend Sunday with a 3-1 victory over Southern Illinois. Trevor Conn pitched seven innings of one-run ball in just his second start of the season.
For the first time in nine days, the Patriots (24-10, 6-1 Missouri Valley Conference) never trailed Sunday. With a strong wind blowing from left field to right, Jimmy Glowenke led off the fourth inning with a solo home run to left field. An RBI single by Tim Millard in the fifth provided all the runs DBU would need.
With some help early from two diving plays in right field by Luke Bandy, Conn (4-0) held the Salukis (18-18, 4-6 MVC) to one run on four hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks. SIU's lone run came in the sixth on a triple by shortstop Connor Kopach on a ball the wind carried to the right field corner.
Kody Funderburk provided an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh with a towering home run that hit high off the right field video board. Jordan Martinson earned his first save of the season with two innings of one-hit relief.

- The Patriots are tied with Missouri State for first place in the MVC at 5-1.
