The DBU Baseball team will be the No. 2 seed at the NCAA Lubbock Regional, as announced by the NCAA today. The Patriots are making their sixth straight NCAA postseason appearance, one of just nine teams to play in a regional in each of the last six years, joining Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, LSU, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt.
The Lubbock Regional will be hosted by Texas Tech, which enters as the top seed in the regional and the No. 8 national seed. The Red Raiders are 39-17 on the season and won the Big 12 regular season title. The Patriots will begin the regional against No.3 seed Florida, which enters the tournament at 33-24 on the season. The Gators went 13-17 in the Southeastern Conference and fell to Texas A&M in the first round of the SEC Tournament by a score of 8-7 in 10 innings. Army rounds out the regional as the No. 4 seed. The Black Knights are 35-24 and won the Patriot League tournament, taking two of three games from Navy in the final round.
The Lubbock Regional begins Friday at Dan Law field at Rip Griffin Park in Lubbock with No.1 Texas Tech taking on No. 4 Army at 3:00 pm and No. 2 DBU facing No. 3 Florida at 7:00 pm.
DBU is 10-6 in 2019 against teams in the field of 64.Â
