Second Half Comeback Lifts No. 3 DBU to 2-1 Win Over Rogers State

THE RUNDOWN
For the second consecutive week, No. 3 DBU put together a dramatic second half comeback as the Patriots scored a pair of goals in the final 30 minutes to claim a 2-1 win over Rogers State. A Parker Coe header off a free kick produced the equalizer and a Michelle Gonzalez "Marta" penalty kick goal in the 80th minute proved to the be the difference as the Patriots held off the Hillcats in the final 10 minutes to notch their second straight win.

Despite a dominating performance in the first half, DBU (2-0) fell behind when Rogers State's Hannah Schulze connected on a shot from 30 yards outside with 1:38 remaining in the half to put the Hillcats (2-1) on top going into the break.

Trailing 1-0 22 minutes into the second half, a foul and yellow card issued to RSU's Andrea Egerer set up a free kick opportunity for DBU. With Marta angled outside the box, her delivery found Parker Coe, who's header was saved by the Hillcats' Cambree Toll, but on the deflection, Coe followed with a right-footed shot that bounced into the goal to tie the match at one apiece.

12 minutes later, another Hillcats' yellow card led to a golden opportunity for the Patriots. With Annie Severide sprinting into the box, the Patriots' sophomore forward was fouled by Zoey Johnston setting up a penalty kick for Marta. Facing Toll, who had made six saves on night in goal, Marta slipped her shot passed RSU's goalkeeper into the left corner of the net to put DBU on top, 2-1.

The Patriots would close out RSU as the DBU defense held the Hillcats without a shot over the final 12 minutes.
