No. 22 DBU Earns Fourth Consecutive Win in 2-0 Shutout Over Eastern New Mexico

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Soccer Team's fifth conference road test resulted in a 2-0 win over Eastern New Mexico this afternoon. Two goals in the first half gave the Patriots their fourth consecutive win.

The Patriots attempted the first six shots of the game against the Greyhounds, who spent most of the afternoon defending. Four attempts hit the crossbar before one finally found the back of the net. DBU's Sophia Schrock scored first in the 27th minute with an assist by Taylor Tufts to put the Patriots up 1-0. ENMU continued to fight back for possession but was unable to find many opportunities to shoot, totaling just five shots in the first half. The Patriots scored again in the 43rd minute when sophomore Elise Borders made a pass inside the box to McKenna Vela to bring the score to 2-0. Two free-kick opportunities were given to DBU in the final minutes of the half due to fouls, and the Patriots had the 2-0 lead at halftime.

In the second 45, a similar story to the first half panned out, with DBU outshooting the Greyhounds 12-2. The Patriots' hustle did not back down despite being up 2-0. ENMU was unable to find any goals this afternoon, and the Patriots capitalized with a 2-0 win.

HEAD COACH MARCUS WOOD ON THE WIN
"A very good road performance from the Patriots. We hit the post 4 times before finally breaking through. The first goal was an excellent passing combination between Marta, Taylor, and Sophie. The second goal was a breakthrough moment for Elise Borders and McKenna Vela. A perfect cross from Elise and a nice header from McKenna. The defensive performance was pretty complete."
