THE RUNDOWN
The Lady Patriots finished their season-long three-game home stand with a straight-sets win over Lone Star Conference foe St. Edward's on Wednesday night at The Burg Center. DBU has now won six matches in a row.
After splitting the match's first 14 rallies, St. Edward's (7-19, 3-11) pulled ahead 9-7. The Lady Patriots (19-6, 11-2) quickly responded with a 7-1 run, headlined by five kills courtesy of
Delaney Fuller, to force a Hilltopper timeout. The stoppage in play slowed the DBU roll for a moment, but the Lady Patriots finished the opening frame on an 8-1 stretch to take it 25-16. Fuller executed an impressive eight kills in the set.
The momentum continued to back DBU in the second. The Lady Patriots sprinted to a 10-point lead, 13-3, and extended it to a dozen, 17-5. St. Edward's mustered an additional five points, but DBU waltzed into the third, eyeing a sweep.
