THE RUNDOWNÂ
DBU Men's Soccer hosted Lubbock Christian at Patriot Soccer on Wednesday night and battled to a 0-0 draw. In the first half, both teams combined for two shots, and defensive play took center stage. In the final 45 minutes, however, DBU's offense found their stride as they out-shot LCU, 8-7. Â
The high point of the game came in the 76th minute when Peyton Voelker was fouled in the box. As he geared up for the penalty kick, two yellow cards were administered to LCU players contesting the foul call. Voelker's kick was a tad too high as it hit the crossbar and was headed out by the Chaps.
In the final 10 minutes of the match, the Patriots' efforts to get on the board looked like shots by Peyton Voelker, freshman Avery Brazzell, and Hunter Dierlam. Each of these were saved by LCU goalkeeper Tom Miles. While DBU had more chances than LCU towards the end of the game, neither team was able to score a goal, resulting in the Patriots' first tie of the season, 0-0.
