THE RUNDOWNÂ
DBU won their second consecutive match of the season in a 2-1 win against Southern Nazarene at Patriot Soccer Field on Thursday night. A goal made by Peyton Voelker in the 53rd minute proved to be the difference as DBU held on for a one-goal victory. Â
In a first half that saw the Patriots and Crimson Storm combine for four shots, an own goal in the 25th minute that went DBU's way was the only goal in the first 45 minutes. Peyton Voelker's cross inside the box intended for Blake Bauer was deflected off the foot of SNU's Alvarro Sanchez and slipped past goalkeeper Andrej Krivopapic. Â
The next goal was scored by DBU's Peyon Voeker eight minutes into the second half. A long pass up the left side from sophomore defender Andrew Hollenbach met Voeker in stride as he delivered his third goal of the season. Â
The Storm secured their only goal following a hand-ball penalty at the 77th minute mark. Rinta Takagi's penalty kick met the top right of the net pulled SNU to within a goal. The Patriots were able to hold on over the final 13 minutes to finish the match with a 2-1 win. Â
