No. 22 DBU Stumbles in Five Sets, Falls to TWU in Hard-Fought Battle

THE RUNDOWN
No. 22 DBU dropped a 3-2 decision to Texas Woman's University on Wednesday night at the Burg Center. After going up 2-1 through the first three sets, the Lady Patriots could not secure the final two sets, eventually falling 15-13 in the final frame. DBU was led by senior outside hitter Delaney Fuller, who posted a game-high 27 kills.

Tied at 10 apiece in the first set, Lindsey Otero's kill gave DBU a lead they would hold onto the rest of the way and eventually secured a 25-21 win. In the second set, TWU seized control when a service ace by Lizzy Reed gave the Pioneers an 8-7 advantage. TWU went on to even the match with a 25-23 win.

In the third set, DBU rolled to a 25-18 win. The Lady Patriots led by as many as nine points after a Fuller kill put DBU up 20-11. TWU responded with a hard-fought 28-26 win in the fourth set to knot the score at two sets apiece.

DBU jumped out to an 8-6 lead in the fifth set after a Sadie Washburn kill but could not hold off TWU's offensive attack. Tied at 13 apiece, an Erin Jones kill put the Pioneers up by a point, and a DBU error led to the deciding point.
