Lady Patriots Continue Win Streak After Wins over OLLU and #37 St. Mary’s

THE RUNDOWN
The Lady Patriots picked up a pair of wins over the weekend after defeating Our Lady of the Lake 7-0 and picking up a 4-3 conference win over #37 St. Mary's. 

The Lady Patriots were dominant in both doubles and singles sets over the weekend. DBU didn't lose a doubles set in either match, with Isabella Arana Rios and Sofia Teran getting the Lady Patriots started in both matches. Caroline Hudson and Madalyn Smelley followed with two wins of their own, along with Sarah Castleberry and Jenna Payne closing out doubles play with two victories. Doubles play was key in the match as DBU swept all lines, with Emily Buchanan and Sofia Teran continuing their undefeated LSC play at the line 5 and 6 position to help the Lady Patriots get within 1 point. 

In singles play, DBU won all but two over the weekend. The Lady Patriots started the weekend with dominant wins against OLLU. Leonie Schondelmaier (6-3,6-1), Madalyn Smelley (2-6,7-6,1-0), Isabella Arana Rios (7-5,7-6), Sofia Teran (6-0, 3-6, 1-0), Emily Buchanan (6-0,6-0), and Jenna Payne (6-0,6-2) all picked up singles wins of their own to secure the match win. Against St. Mary's, Leonie Schondelmaier (6-4,6-4), Sofia Teran (6-1,6-3), and Emily Buchanan (6-4,6-3) came through with the triumphs to push DBU over the top and take the victory against the Rattlers. Leonie Schondelmaier won her match against a top 20 nationally ranked player to clinch the win for DBU.
