Lady Patriots Sweep Oklahoma Christian, Win Six Consecutive Sets to Open Conference Play

THE RUNDOWN

No. 23 ranked DBU (8-4, 2-0) dismantled Oklahoma Christian (8-5, 0-2) this afternoon at The Burg Center (25-15, 25-22, 25-16), and have taken the first six total sets of Lone Star Conference play going back to yesterday's win over Cameron. For the first time in program history (stat-tracking began in 2013), the DBU Lady Patriots have two games of at least a .400 Hit% in a single season, and they did it in back-to-back contests.

For the first time this season, Delaney Fuller finished a contest without an attack error while leading the team in kills (12). Karly Wells maintained her hot streak posting a .421 Hit%, while also tallying her first two service aces of the season. Shaylee Shore continues to see increased attack attempts with 12, the third-highest on the team today. Aryn Walton assisted on 33 of the team's 39 kills (85%), proving this DBU team's cleanliness and consistency in making good passes.

DBU totaled eight blocks this afternoon, six of which came in the third and final set. The Lady Patriot defense was relentless in its effort to slam the door on OCU. Shaylee Shore led the group with four total blocks, notching two solo and another two, assisted. OCU's leading attacker, Annie Davis (15 attempts), was held to a -.067 Hit% by the DBU defense.

Sophomore Karly Wells has led the team in kills in two of the last three contests, and added contributions from the baseline this afternoon in her first game with multiple service attempts. She was asked postgame about what these performances early on in the season mean to her and she put it simply: "It's the ultimate boost of confidence." Karly, alongside coach Jordan Fish, also caught up with our play-by-play analyst Ryan Wilson which can be found linked below.
