Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Falls to ECU to Conclude the Dallas Classic

THE RUNDOWN

This afternoon DBU dropped their first contest of the season, falling to East Central University in four sets. Both teams entered the match undefeated and perhaps carrying a little bit of wear and tear following a very long weekend of volleyball at The Burg Center. As a result of the match, ECU improved their record to 3-0, and the Lady Patriots fell to 3-1.

The largest storyline behind this game resides within ECU's defense. The Lady Patriots were held to a .278 Kill%, their lowest clip of the season so far. ECU had a total of 10 blocks in this afternoon's affair, against a DBU attack that hadn't faced more than 5 blocks in a single game this season up until this afternoon.

Despite the loss, there were plenty of bright spots in this matchup. The Lady Patriots trailed 15-9 in the second set before Karly Wells ignited a comeback that saw the Lady Patriots take the second set by a score of 25-23. Wells consistently brought the energy regardless of what the scoreboard was showing, giving something for the DBU squad to build off of. Aryn Walton put up her fourth straight 30+ assist game and also led the Lady Patriots with two service aces against ECU.

Daylee Doggett led the entire floor with 23 digs this afternoon, six more than any other player who touched the court. Delaney Fuller, despite the loss, had the most kills in the game, squeaking out ECU's Emma Strickland's 19 kills with 20 of her own.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

- Kalin Hubbard led the Lady Patriots in blocks for the first time, with four.

- DBU's two pool play opponents next weekend have a combined record of 6-1.
