Pool Play Rollercoaster: Volleyball Defeats Central Missouri in Five Sets & Focuses their Eyes on MSU Denver

THE RUNDOWN

DBU outlasted No. 17 Central Missouri to take the first pool play game of the Colorado Premiere Classic on Friday in Denver, Colorado. The Lady Patriots took sets one, four and five to jumpstart the weekend, and proved that they belong within the top Division II teams in the country.

Delaney Fuller's 16 kills led the way for the Patriots, and senior Price Reeves rode a .500 Kill% to a season-high 15 kill game. The Lady Patriots will quickly rest and recover before taking on the #3 MSU Denver Roadrunners later this afternoon.

The Lady Patriots battled their way to a 26-24 set one victory before dropping the second and third sets 22-25, and 21-25 respectively. Set four saw the Lady Patriot's largest victory margin in a single set so far this season, with DBU coming away with an astounding 25-12 win. In the fifth and final set, the Lady Patriots pulled away to a four point lead early on and rode it all the way to a 15-11 set five victory, jumpstarting the weekend in Denver.

Lindsey Otero set multiple season-high's in this morning's contest, posting both seven kills and seven total blocks. Otero also led the Lady Patriots in efficiency with a .538 Kill%. Senior Aryn Walton posted a season-high of 54 assists, assisting on 90% of DBU's kills this morning. Karly Wells set a season-high with six total blocks contributing to DBU's total of 13.

DBU will face the 4-0 Roadrunners this afternoon to wrap up pool play before another long day of Volleyball awaits them on Saturday.
