THE RUNDOWN
The top-ranked DBU Women's Soccer team continued their dominant run with a 4-0 shutout victory over Texas Woman's University on Wednesday night at Pioneer Soccer Park in Denton, Texas. Behind a two-goal performance from
McKenna Vela, the Patriots secured their 12th straight win and remained perfect in Lone Star Conference play at 8-0.
Â
DBU struck first just 10 minutes into the match when Vela found the back of the net to give the Patriots an early edge. In the 29th minute,
Chandler Wheat doubled the advantage with her sixth goal of the season, sending DBU into the half with a commanding 2-0 lead.
Â
The Patriots wasted little time adding to their total after the break. Vela tallied her second goal of the night in the 54th minute, and
Angelina Olmos capped the scoring in the 75th minute to seal the 4-0 win.
Â
Defensively, DBU was once again superb, holding the Pioneers to just eight total shots — none of which were on target — en route to their ninth clean sheet of the year.
