Lady Patriots Fall to Midwestern State in Four Sets

THE RUNDOWN
DBU (11-9, 5-7 LSC) fell to Midwestern State (15-7, 8-5 LSC) Friday night, increasing the Lady Patriots' losing skid to five games. Karly Wells led everyone on the floor with 26 kills on a career night, as she recorded her 1,000th kill with her third tally of the night.

In the first set, DBU was out-hit .361 to .158, losing the frame 25-19. The Lady Patriots were held to just 12 kills in the opening frame, the lowest single-set kill total for either team tonight.

Nobody could gain separation in the second set, and the teams required deuce play to settle the score. DBU held a 24-23 lead, but the Mustangs rattled off a 3-0 run to take the set 26-24.

The Lady Patriots would take the third set on the backs of a great defensive effort, holding MSU to a .130 hitting percentage in the third frame. DBU got out to a 10-3 start and held on to win the frame 25-23.

The fourth set was back and forth early, when a Karly Wells kill tied the frame at 15. However, the Mustangs would win the next point and never relinquish the lead again, ending the game with a 25-21 win in set four.
