DBU Volleyball Drops First Home Match to Southeastern Oklahoma

The Lady Patriot Volleyball Team fell in three sets on Tuesday night to the Southeastern Oklahoma Savage Storm. The Savage Storm took advantage of several DBU errors to win the match and improve their overall record to 4-0, while DBU dropped to 3-2.

Set one of the match saw SEO run away with it toward the end of the set and pull out a 25-20 win. The Lady Patriots could not slow down the big hitters for the Savage Storm allowing them to have .419 hitting average in the first set.

DBU battled to a 24-24 tie in the second set but two costly mistakes toward the end cost the victory and gave all the momentum to the Savage Storm heading into set three. The final set of the match was dominated from the start by SEO and they put the match away when they pushed their lead nine points, finishing off DBU 25-16.

Leading DBU was Freshman Kaylyn Frink, who had 16 kills and seven digs, while Junior Vickie Mundell dished out 29 assists, and Junior Erin Black dug 11 balls from the back row.

DBU will look to bounce back from their tough loss on September 5, when they travel to Joplin, Missouri, to take on the University of Central Oklahoma for a 1:00 match.
