Lady Patriots Split with UTPB


The Dallas Baptist University Lady Patriot Volleyball Team finished the weekend series 1-1 against the University of Texas at Permian Basin. DBU defeated the Lady Falcons 3-1 on Friday, October 30, then lost 3-1 on Saturday, October 31. After the weekend, DBU moves their overall record to 16-15 and Heartland Conference record to 8-4.

In Friday's win, the Lady Patriots were led by Sophomore Kaylyn Frink as she recorded 17 kills and hit for a .204 average. Frink also racked up 23 defensive digs in the win. Senior Amanda Emmert once again led DBU on the defensive side of the court with 35 defensive digs. Senior Lauren Zegarelli, Sophomore Kristin Secord, and Freshman Christina Steinkruger also had impressive offensive performances in the win as they recorded 14, 13, and 11 kills respectively.

On Saturday, DBU jumped ahead early as they took set one, but the Lady Falcons from UTPB were able to rally back to win the next three sets to win 3-1. Frink and Secord posted double digit kills in the loss, with Frink putting down 19 balls and Secord 11.

DBU currently sits in third place in conference and looks to finish the regular season strong as they are back in action on Thursday, November 5 as they welcome the Newman University Jets to campus. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
