The Dallas Baptist Lady Patriot Volleyball Team lost only their second Heartland Conference match of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling in five sets (25-21, 19-25, 25-13, 19-25, 14-16) to Newman University.  The Lady Patriots (12-13) are now in second place in the Heartland with a 5-2 conference record, and trail first place St. Edward's by just one game.
It took five sets and 202 total points to determine a winner in Saturday's match, with Newman finally putting the Lady Patriots away in the fifth set.  After alternating wins in the first four sets, the two teams went point for point in the tie breaker set.  Tied 14-14, the Jets ended the match with two consecutive kills for the 14-16 win.
Junior 
Kaylyn Frink finished with a game-high 16 kills for the Lady Patriots to go along with 14 digs.  Sophomore 
Christina Steinkruger ended the match with 15 kills, while Sophomore 
Becky Swann added 11 kills of her own.  Freshman 
Lauren Pavloske led the way defensively for DBU, ending the afternoon with 32 digs.
The Lady Patriots will face Central Oklahoma in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday evening.  DBU will look to avenge a 1-3 loss to the Bronchos back on September 14 in Edmond.  Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
