The Dallas Baptist University Lady Patriot Volleyball Team traveled to Austin on Wednesday night, only to fall to the St. Edward's Hilltoppers, 0-3. The Hilltoppers remain atop the Heartland Conference with a 9-1 record, while the Lady Patriots (14-16) fall into a three-way tie for second place with a 4-6 conference record.
In the first set, the two teams battled back and forth, but it was the Hilltoppers who strung together two, five-point rally's to capture the opening set, 25-20.
SEU, who suffered their only conference loss to the Lady Patriots back on September 28, continued their strong play in the second, jumping out to an early 9-1 lead. The Lady Patriots answered with a five-point rally to make it 9-6, but the Hilltoppers responded with a five-point rally of their own to put the game out of reach at 14-6. SEU went on to win the set, 25-15.
Set three was much of the same for SEU as they utilized 14 kills and a .522 attack percentage for the 25-8 win.
DBU was led by Sophomore
Christina Steinkruger with seven kills and four digs. Junior
Kaylyn Frink finished the evening with five kills and nine digs.
The Lady Patriots will have a week off before welcoming Texas A&M International to the Burg Center on Thursday, November 4. Game time next week is set for 7:00 p.m.
