Lady Patriots Sweep Dustdevils, 3-0

The Dallas Baptist Lady Patriot Volleyball Team swept the visiting Dustdevils from Texas A&M International on Thursday evening, and with the win, move to 15-16 on the season and 7-4 in the Heartland Conference.

DBU had no problem with the Dustdevils in the first two sets, winning 25-18 and 25-16. The Lady Patriots pulled away in the second, using a .300 attack percentage off 16 kills and only four errors for a 20-11 lead.

TAMIU challenged DBU in the third, taking an 18-14 lead midway through the set, but the Lady Patriots responded, taking six of the next seven points. A kill by Sophomore Becky Swann and a Dustdevil error gave DBU a 20-19 lead.

The Dustdevils battled back for a game-point, 24-22 lead, but DBU responded once again to tie the set at 24-24. Two consecutive DBU kills by Junior Kaylyn Frink and Sophomore Christina Steinkruger gave the Lady Patriots a 26-25 advantage, and an attack error by the Dustdevils gave DBU the 27-25 win.

The Lady Patriots were led by Steinkruger who ended the night with 12 kills and a .360 attack percentage. Freshman Krystal Wunderlich was the only other Lady Patriot in double figure kills with 11, while Freshman Cameron Hartson picked up a team-high, 20 digs.

The Lady Patriots will finish the regular season on Saturday, November 6, with their final home game against St. Mary's University. DBU knocked off the Rattlers earlier in the season, with a 3-2 win. The Heartland Conference Tournament will be hosted by first place St. Edward's, and is set to begin on November 11.
