Patriots Offense Silenced by #3 Longhorns

The Dallas Baptist University Patriot Baseball Team suffered their first loss of the season on Wednesday afternoon against the #5 ranked Texas Longhorns in Austin, Texas. With the 7-2 loss, the Patriots fall to 3-1 on the season.

DBU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the second inning after Senior Travis Meiners walked to start the inning and advanced to second on a single by Junior Ryan Thompson. Sophomore Ryan Behmanesh followed with a single of his own, setting up a RBI groundout by Junior Logan Moro.

UT responded with four runs of their own in the third inning to take a 4-1 lead on four hits, a walk, a hit by pitch and a balk.

The Longhorns added two runs in the fourth inning on a walk and two doubles, chasing DBU starter Junior Chris Haney from the game.

DBU loaded the bases in the fifth and scored a run on a RBI groundout by Junior Jason Krizan, scoring Senior Austin Knight who had reached on a walk. UT countered with a run in the bottom half of the inning to leave the score 7-2 after six innings.

The Patriots resume action on Friday afternoon at 3:00 in the first game of a three game series against Western Michigan University at Patriot Field.
