The Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball Team held the Seattle Redhawks scoreless through the first five innings on their way to a 13-2 win on Friday evening. The Patriots are now 22-16 on the season.
Junior
Brandon Williamson pitched five shutout innings to start the game, before the Redhawks finally scored an unearned run in the sixth. All together, Williamson picked up his sixth win of the season by stringing together six innings, allowing only three hits, no earned runs, and striking out eight.
After a scoreless first by the Patriots, Senior
Ryan Enos led off the second with a double to left field, and then advanced to third on a bunt by Sophomore
Ryan Behmanesh. Freshman
Duncan McAlpine brought Enos across the plate later in the inning with a RBI single, giving DBU a 1-0 lead.
The Patriots used four hits to score five runs in the third. Senior
Austin Knight led off the inning with a walk and advanced on a single by Freshman
Austin Elkins. Junior
Jason Krizan moved both runners over with a sacrifice bunt, and Enos reached on a throwing error, scoring Knight and Elkins. McAlpine picked up his second RBI of the night, with a double to right center to score Enos. On the very next pitch, Junior
Chris Haney made it a 6-0 game with a two run homerun, his first of the season.
In the fourth, Krizan used a sacrifice fly to score Knight who had reached on a double, giving DBU a 7-0 lead.
The Patriots scored five runs in the fifth to take a commanding 12-0 advantage. Sophomore
Landon Anderson picked up two RBI with a single and Knight blasted his seventh homerun of the season, a three run shot over the right field wall.
After Elkins tacked on another run for the Patriots in the sixth, the Redhawks finally got on the board in the bottom of the inning, scoring on a passed ball. Another run in the seventh made it a 13-2 game.
Due to rain, the game was called in eighth, leaving the Patriots with the 13-2 victory.
DBU will wrap up the three game series against the Redhawks tomorrow afternoon. The final game is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. Central Time.
