DBU Volleyball Undefeated as they Prepare for Day Two at Lady Buffs Classic

The Lady Patriots Volleyball Team opened their season in Canyon, Texas, on Friday evening as they took part in the Lady Buffs Classic. After dropping their first set of the day, DBU won six consecutive sets, as they defeated Eastern New Mexico, 3-1, and East Central, 3-0. The Lady Patriots are now 2-0 as they prepare for the second day of the tournament on Saturday.

DBU got off to a slow start on the day, dropping the first set against Eastern New Mexico, 20-25. The Lady Patriots came roaring back the very next game, led by Sophomore Becky Swann and Junior Kaylyn Frink. Swann recorded 12 kills in the match, and was followed closely behind by Frink with 10 kills. Freshman newcomer Cameron Hartson had a stellar start to her career as she led DBU defensively with 20 digs, as the Lady Patriots picked up the win, 25-23, 25-12, and 25-17.

The Lady Patriots showed no signs of slowing down in their second matchup of the day as they cruised to an easy victory over East Central in three sets (25-21, 25-22, 25-17). Swann and Frink led DBU on the offensive side once again, recording 11 and nine kills, respectively. Frink also led the Lady Patriots on defense as she picked up 11 digs.

The Lady Patriots return to action tomorrow morning, as they take on Southeastern Oklahoma State University at 9:00 a.m. DBU will then face tournament host, West Texas A&M, at 8:30 in the evening.
