Lady Patriot Volleybal Closes Out Tournament with 3-1 Loss to West Texas A&M

After opening the second round of the Lady Buff Classic with a 3-0 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State University, the DBU Lady Patriot Volleyball Team fell to tournament host, West Texas A&M, by the score of 3-1. The Lady Patriots are now 3-1 on the season as they prepare to return to Dallas for their first home match of the season later this week.

In the morning matchup against SOSU, the Lady Patriots won in three sets, 25-21, 25-19, and 25-11. Junior Kaylyn Frink led the way on offense and defense for DBU, as she picked up 15 kills on 23 total attacks to go along with a team high 13 digs. Sophomores Becky Swann and Christina Steinkruger recorded seven and six kills, respectively.

In the final game of the Lady Buff Classic, DBU fell behind two sets to none (20-25, 7-25), but pulled together to win the third set (25-22). However, the two-game deficit proved to be too much for the Lady Patriots to overcome, as they fell 25-20 in the final set.

Frink led DBU on offense once again, totaling 16 kills, while picking up 11 digs. Freshman Lauren Pavloske turned in a stellar performance with a team high 15 digs.

The Lady Patriots will return to action on Tuesday, September 7, as they prepare for their first home match of the season. DBU will face Midwestern State University at the Burg Center at 7:00 p.m.
