The 32nd ranked Lady Patriot Tennis Team brought home their third consecutive NCCAA National Championship after defeating Palm Beach Atlantic, 5-1, in the title match on Thursday morning in Mobile, Alabama. The Lady Patriots are now the three-time defending champs after taking the title in both 2009 and 2010.
DBU cruised through the national tournament, losing only three sets in five total matches. The Lady Patriots swept Bethel College in the opening round on Tuesday morning followed by an evening win over Campbellsville, 5-1.
After defeating Olivet Nazarene, 5-1, on Wednesday morning, the Lady Patriots advanced to the semi-finals round against Indiana Wesleyan. DBU made quick work of the Wildcats, also sweeping IWU in five sets.
The title game was no different for the Lady Patriots as they battled their way to a 5-1 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic, capturing their third consecutive NCCAA National Championship Trophy.
DBU Head Coach Jennifer Curran was named the NCCAA Coach of the Year for the third straight year, while five of her players were selected as NCCAA All-Americans:
