The Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball Team lost their final road game of the regular season on Tuesday evening in Waco, Texas, falling to the Baylor Bears, 7-1. The loss drops the Patriots to 37-16 as they prepare to wrap up regular season play later this week.
Senior Brandon Williamson was dealt the loss, only the second of the season, after pitching five and one third innings, allowing six earned runs on eight hits, and striking out four.
Senior Jason Krizan had his school-record 39-game hitting streak stopped after going 0-4 with walk against the Bears. Krizan, who broke the NCAA doubles record last week with his 37th double of the season, last went hitless on March 8 in a game against Washington State.
The Patriots scored their only run of the night in the top half of the third, to take their only lead of the game. Senior Tyler Robbins reached after being hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a single by Junior Ryan Behmanesh, and eventually scored on a RBI single from Junior Joel Hutter to give the Patriots the 1-0 advantage.
The lead didn't last long for the Patriots as the Bears used eight hits over the next three innings to push across a combined seven runs. The Bears scored three runs in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take the 7-1 win.
The Patriots will close out their regular season this weekend at Patriot Field with a three game series against UNC Charlotte. The first game against the 49ers is scheduled for Thursday with the first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
