The Lady Patriots have only lost to one team this season in conference play. It just so happens that team is first-place Arkansas-Fort Smith (16-2, 8-0) and the two teams have now played twice. Dallas Baptist (13-6, 7-2) travelled to Fort Smith Saturday afternoon were they fell, 3-0, to the Lions (25-22, 25-10, 25-23).
In the three sets,
Tiara Iwegbu was the only Lady Patriots to record double-digit kills, as she finished with 11, and
Cameron Hartson led the defense with 19 digs, also the only double-digit effort for DBU.
Kaycie Bird and
Tyler Bradsher continued their solid play on the season with 15 and 14 assists in the Lady Patriot two-setter system while five different players recorded at least one block in the outing.
The loss ends a four-game winning streak for DBU overall and a five-game Heartland Conference winning streak. The last Lady Patriot loss came against these same UAFS players back on September 22. Dallas Baptist will return to the hardwood on Wednesday, October 17, as they travel south along I-35 to take on St. Edward's in Austin at 7:00 pm, a rematch from the September 11 match that DBU won, 3-1.
