On Saturday afternoon in Dallas, the Dallas Baptist Lady Patriots (14-7, 7-3) returned to their winning ways after dropping consecutive matches during the week and swept visiting Southern Arkansas (17-7) in three sets. The win moved DBU to within three matches of the 20-victory plateau with six left to play. Three Lady Patriots finished the afternoon with double-digit kills and
Erika Papadeas recorded four service aces in the match, a season high.
Papadeas led the way on offense with 11 kills while
Kristin Secord and
Tiara Iwegbu each racked up 10. Ashley Kay picked up eight of her own as the Lady Patriots hit .219 on the match. They held the Lady Muleriders to a .123 hitting percentage while collecting 10 blocks on the afternoon with Secord leading the way at the net with three.
Tyler Bradsher engineered the offense with 20 assists and
Kaycie Bird followed right behind with 17.
Cameron Hartson dominated the back row with 24 digs. Bradsher and Papadeas also had double-digit dig days.
Dallas Baptist cruised on the scoreboard as well as they swept the match by scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-20. The match took one hour and twenty minutes. DBU will have a brief respite from the court as they do not play again until Ocotber 25 when they host conference opponent UT Permian Basin at 7:00 pm. This game will be the team's annual Dig Pink! match to help raise awareness regarding breast cancer and the issues surrounding the disease.
