In a match that took right at one hour to complete, the Dallas Baptist Lady Patriots (10-5, 6-1) defeated Oklahoma Panhandle State (3-13, 0-6) in three quick sets Thursday night in Dallas. The closest game of the night was the first, which saw
Cathy Kokel's group win 25-17, and from there, the Lady Patriots cruised with ease to close out the match, 25-11 and 25-13.
Erika Papadeas and
Kristin Secord were the only two Lady Patriots with double-digit kills as they went for 11 and 10, respectively, but the group effort led to 40 kills total on the night and an efficient .326 attack percentage.
Kaycie Bird finished the night with three service aces to go along with her team-leading 19 assists while
Tyler Bradsher added 13 assists in the two-setter system.
Tadam Mergener led the defensive outing for DBU with 11 digs and
Cameron Hartson kept her double-digit streak alive with 10 and Secord helped defend the net with three solo blocks out of her four total for the match.
The Lady Patriots will have a quick turnaround during this, their Fall Break, as they return to the court on Saturday night, October 6, to host Midwestern State at 7:00 pm. Their next conference tilt is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17, as they travel down I-35 to take on St. Edward's at 7:00 pm.
